Healing, Signs, and Self-Worth: Leaping into the Unknown with Aisha, Myra, and Farah
Host Shaila Lalani welcomes friends Aisha, Myra, and Farah to discuss how healing is sparked by loss, discomfort, and inner nudges, and defined as returning to wholeness, gaining self-awareness, and becoming okay with who you are. They share personal turning points moving and feeling isolated, losing important loved ones, leading to practices like therapy, yoga, meditation, reading, sound baths, and spirituality exploration. The group bonds over synchronicities and “signs,” including rainbows, ladybugs, and ducks as symbols of connection after death, and they describe healing through triggers, not taking things personally, boundaries, community, and calming the nervous system. They connect money to freedom, energy, gratitude, and abundance vs. scarcity mindsets, and encourage listeners to take the leap when ready, trust divine timing, and seek joy.

Hello Leapers and welcome to the new episode of Leap 2 Empower I'm Shaila Lalani, and this podcast is to honor the real life stories of people who dare to leap into the unknown. Today feels special. I'm joined by three friends. Friends who didn't just talk about healing, but lived it together. Each of us arrived here differently. Through loss. Through the body. Through signs, coincidences, and moments that couldn't be ignored. Aisha is a CPA, specializing in tax with deep passion for making the complex simple. She thrives in community and feels most alive, surrounded by women connection, meaningful conversations, good food, and beautiful spaces. Myra is an Austin-based yoga teacher with over a decade of experience in hatha, vinyasa flow, yoga therapy and trauma-informed practices. Her teaching blends, strength, mindfulness, and grounded presence that meets people exactly where they are. Farah has Kenyan roots and has been practicing optometry in Houston since 2007. She's a wife, a mother of two, and someone who observes life deeply, quietly, and thoughtfully. Thank you so much for joining me on this podcast today. Today's a really special one, and I thank you all for being here. Let's get started with the intent of the podcast, what does healing mean to you? And how did it trigger? How did that awareness come up? Myra, do you wanna start off first?
MyraFor me, I think healing is a remembering of our true nature. It's a return to our wholeness. I think healing starts from conception and birth which is in itself a pretty traumatic experience. If you can imagine being born I'm sure for a baby it feels scary or maybe even like a death, in some way because you're leaving something that's familiar and comfortable and transitioning into essentially a new world. And so it, that's, I think, the experience of separation. So I think trauma is basically when we experience that separation in some way. Separation from love or from wholeness or from source. And I think healing is just a remembering and a returning to that wholeness. That's beautiful.
AishaI think for me healing is basically starts when you become aware that the way you are doing things is a little bit uncomfortable and you wanna do things differently and see what you can do within yourself instead of trying to change your external circumstances, what you can do internally to make life better, to make better decisions, and just to get more joy out of life.
FarahFor me, I didn't know healing existed. Shaila used to talk to me about all these books she used to read and I used to dismiss her, and I was just going through life in my own bliss or whatever was distracting myself and then a huge thing happened in my life, and that's when I really learned what healing means. And it is finding yourself and just being okay with who you are.
Shailathat's beautiful. Thank you for sharing what it means to you. But let's take a step back and discuss, how did it all begin for y'all? What was happening in your life when you realized something needed to shift?
MyraThere was many moments throughout my entire life where I felt pain or I was suffering in some way. And it's like when you hit rock bottom, you feel like there's nowhere else to go but up. It's like you're yearning to feel peace or to feel okay and not feel pain or suffering. And so that yearning leads you to exploration of how can I make myself feel better? And when things get, sometimes things have to get really bad before you because it requires change. You have to change something in your life, and that's hard and scary too. And so when the discomfort you're experiencing becomes stronger than the fear that you experience about reckoning would change? I think that's when you're motivated to take steps to heal. And the biggest thing for me, I think was when we moved to the Austin area. It was 2012 after Camille was born. She was a month and a half when we moved from Houston to Austin. And I left my family and friends. I knew I didn't know anybody, and I was trying to lose the baby weight and Kamran just started work and I was alone a lot with two kids and I felt really overwhelmed and lost. And a part of me knew like I am, I have everything I could have ever wanted. I have two kids, a boy and a girl. I feel so blessed. I'm living in Austin, the place where I always wanted to live my whole life, but for some reason there's still this emptiness inside of me and I feel like I don't know who I am because I have everything I thought I wanted and I still don't feel happy or whole. And so I started this journey. I basically decided to become a student of happiness. What makes people happy? I started watching Oprah and the doctors and watching like self-help shows and reading books and like I immersed myself and I joined the local gym, YMCA and then I found yoga. Soon after that. I just decided to try something. I knew if I wanted to feel different, I had to try something different. And it changed my life from there.
AishaFor me when I was younger, we moved quite a lot. And so I grew up just Emotionally, kind of detached and then maybe 10 years ago I lost somebody very important to me, and that was something I could not detach from. And I realized, I started going into this phase of distracting myself. And just on one hand you could say I was trying to live life to the fullest, but on the other hand, it was all, I also recognized that there was some element of distraction in there. And that kind of started me questioning, well, what is it that I really want? What actually makes me happy? What is the meaning of all of this? And that along with talking to Myra and talking to Shaila and kind of everything happened at the same time. And gradually from there, learning more about myself, learning more about my patterns, the way I function, and again, how to make my life more full of joy.
FarahSo I was going through my blissful life and my mom got sick and then she passed away. And then I questioned what is the purpose of life? Because everything was okay and she was my backbone. And you, when you lose your backbone, you don't know where to start again. And, and because she was so into her religion and praying, and this still happened to her. That's what triggered the shift in me to know more about what this all means.
ShailaThank you for sharing. We all go through different paths in our life where we realize something is missing, and we're just not in that awareness. And that's fine. Like Farah said, we were in our blissful life and until something big happens, and we realize this awareness and the shift that, okay, something is not right.
MyraYeah, I agree. And I think being a child of immigrants too, my mom married my dad when she was 19 and then I was born nine months later and they were not planning on having a baby that quickly and they had just moved to the US and so for me, it was a pretty unique experience being a child of immigrants. They were practically children themselves, in a new country with a new daughter. And so I grew up really feeling like I don't belong. And even I remember visiting Pakistan and even there I felt like an outsider and so I was always searching for a sense of belonging. I think now looking back, I feel like this was a part of my soul curriculum, I was meant to feel different or a struggle with a sense of belonging and self-worth and self-acceptance. Like I became a people pleaser essentially because I felt energetically sensitive, so I could feel from a very young age. I think even before I could speak, I could feel the tension growing up my parents struggle. My dad he was a nuclear engineer and when he moved to the States, he couldn't get a job because he was a foreigner. And so eventually he went back to school, got a second master's in chemical engineering, and my mom was working and I remember this and before my brother was even born and my grandfather, who brought my mom and his family here, my grandma and everyone. Ended up leaving everyone in the states and went back to Pakistan to marry somebody else. And that was super traumatic. And I became very easygoing and a people pleaser, just to make things easier from everyone else because I wanted to feel loved and I functioned that way for most of my life to be easy and not rock the boat and to be whatever you need me to be so that I don't feel abandoned by you. And I think that was a big part of my healing journey to learn how to love and accept myself. Before looking for it from others.
ShailaSo what happened when you realized, okay, this is the moment in my life that I need to make a change internally. Right. And what steps did you take to live life every day from there so that you can be true to yourself?
AishaI think for me it was a lot of trial and error. So I tried conventional therapy. I tried yoga, meditation, reading, self-help books, and I think it depends on the day. Some days I'm in the mood to read something that's gonna make me feel better or make me think of things differently. Some days it might be an Instagram post, some days it might be going to a yoga class. I think at the end of the day, anything that makes you go within yourself and really sit with yourself and your feelings is healing for me.
FarahFor me after what happened, I was given this book. By one of my really good friend's mother-in-law, and one of my mom's really, or one of her best friends, and it was called Many Lives, many Masters. And that book is what changed my whole perspective of this life And when I came back to Houston, I was telling Aisha and Shaila about it. I was just telling them about this book and then Aisha was like, oh, Myra just told me about this book too. Mm-hmm. So it was all very synchronous and that's how we all came together. Well, that's how I think we came together and to go through this journey. And then what I started doing was, I, one of my friends in Nairobi was, you should try Sound Bath And when I tried the sound bath, that was an amazing experience for me. And then I started looking more into meditation, taking some time to myself. And that's what really helped me.
AishaI wanna add one thing to what Farah said. I think she read that book and I read the book. Myra had read the book we talked about it. And around the same time I started realizing that people around me seem so asleep and distracted like I was not too long ago. And I think just the awareness of being able to see that difference. And that's okay. That's just where they are in their journey. But when you witness it. It really made me realize, okay, I am changing, I am evolving. Not in a way where like I'm better than them. Just I'm past that phase of my life and now I'm ready to move on to this next journey of healing.
MyraI remember very vividly when I read that book, many Lives, many Masters is in 2018. And I think that was almost another chapter or two for me getting introduced to almost the metaphysical, right? Yoga was one step further than where I had been. And then reading that book and really getting into concepts of spirit guides and the in-between lives and like all of that stuff where I just didn't really think or entertain all of that, but I grew up in a Muslim household and I was actually a psychology major, and I became agnostic for about 10 years or so until I found yoga. And then even after that I started studying spirituality and Buddhism and Hinduism, and even Sufism, really exploring different ways to believe in something bigger than this material world. That could make sense. 'cause I'm practical, I'm logical. I need it to make sense for me to accept it as the truth. And when you hear concepts like energy cannot be created nor destroyed, but when you think about it through spirituality, it makes sense. Like how we are energy. We are all energy and so it cannot be destroyed. And yeah, I think it's it's a journey of evolution and we are exactly where we're supposed to be going through what we're supposed to go through to prepare us for the next step. And when I look back, I understand everything, even like the really tough moments in my life were happening in divine order, exactly how it was supposed to happen.
ShailaI agree. Many lives, many masters is the book that brought us together for sure. Yes. And I think that after we read that book, we read many more books after that we shared with each other, and then we went down this path of, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. And then it's like we needed to find some balance. Even though you may sometimes talk woo woo. And others may not understand but that's okay. I feel blessed to have you to share this moment. it makes a difference to have people around you who understand you and for you to feel safe to share whatever you want. So through this journey I think one of the things that we have realized is is SIGNS. Do you remember like SIGNS became a thing? S-I-G-N-S signs, right? Yeah. And then we started to look for science. What did you think about that? If we probably say that to somebody else, they'd be like, okay, come on now. How did you realize that this sign was a thing for you?
FarahOkay. So again, everything that comes back to after my mom passed away, one of my friends was like find a sign for your mom. So that way when you see it, you feel some sort of comfort that she's there. So my sign for my mom is a rainbow and a ladybug, and every time I see them. It is amazing and all of you guys know about it too.
AishaSo to be honest, sometimes I still think I'm crazy 'cause I'll be like, wait, is that a sign? A sign? But I think it's more about the energy that you put out. And if you are ready to look for something, it's gonna be there. And I think it's, it can be very validating. So. I think if you set the right intention that, Hey, if I see this sign, this is what it means. It can be amazing, just like Farah said.
MyraYeah. I know I've had many amazing signs where even if I tried to explain it to someone else who wasn't there, it wouldn't do it justice. 'cause you know, what you feel in that moment, you get the goosebumps and it's just oh my God. But you can never really explain to someone that feeling unless they experience it for themselves and they know what you're talking about. But what immediately came to my mind was my father-in-law passed away last year in December. And my husband was really struggling. I've been bringing him along for this woo journey. He's a cardiologist, and so he's really scientific minded and skeptical and is just not really entertaining the unseen realms, but he's been witnessing my journey and I think he's a convert now for sure. But when his father passed away, he was of course, struggling and there was so much sadness and grief and he wanted a sign from his dad. And what came to him almost immediately was ducks. And his dad was an artist and he has lots of paintings. He liked paint ducks. And so that he established that pretty quickly that was gonna be his sign. And it was crazy. As soon as he made that decision, it was like nonstop ducks everywhere. And I was witness to it. Like he came home, like we were staying in an Airbnb. We were there, I think for the funeral, and he came home to the Airbnb and my son was watching a football game and Ducks was on the, one of the teams playing. I was like, and there's ducks everywhere. And then we came back to Austin, to our house and he was it was still fresh. He was processing. He was by himself, but he made a video of this. He was by himself in the backyard. He went outside, he was missing his dad, he was crying. And we have this power line in the green belt behind our house. And he looks up and there's a flock of ducks sitting on top of the power lines, and we have never seen ducks up there. So this was insane. And he made a video of it and sent it to us immediately. So like me and his brothers and mom, like we're all kind of part of this group thing where every time he sees ducks, he's like texting it to us and it's been insane.
ShailaAnd that's amazing how when we realize each other's signs, we're like, oh, I gotta send this to you, and then you never know. 'cause you might be asking for it, but somebody else is sending it to you. Yeah. You are like, okay, I got my sign for today. Let's talk a little bit about, okay, fast forward, how did you guys find self-worth through your journey?
AishaI think for me the biggest lesson so far has been to not take things personally because everyone is on their journey and through not taking things personally, you realize that the way other people are towards you is not a reflection of your worth. It's wherever they are. And so just having that awareness has made life so much easier and so much better because someone can say whatever they want and I can easily brush it off now. And I think that's, I mean, obviously it's a work in progress. I'm not great at it yet, but I think just even having that awareness in all types of relationships, even if it's a random person at the grocery store that might be angry, but you're like, you know what? They're just having a bad day. And I think from there, hopefully my healing continues to grow, but that's been the most monumental change for me so far.
FarahThings used to really bother me and now they just don't. And through this journey, I've just learned about just dropping your ego and knowing people have their own perspectives, not everyone's gonna agree with everything you say, and it's okay to have your own views on things.
Myrayeah. As I mentioned I'm a healed people pleaser. I will say I was a former people pleaser. I've done a lot of work to overcome that tendency, but interestingly enough, I'm also feel like I'm a black sheep in the family or a bit of a rebel. So growing up I used to get bullied a lot in school. And I think a part of me is because I had a hard time conforming. And following the trends, or what like the unwritten rules of what's socially acceptable and like I was oblivious. So I had this social developmental delay, which made me stand out or seem weird to people. And so because of the bullying and being outcasted and struggling with a sense of belonging and then also being a rebel, like it was just like this perfect kinda mix of just angst and feelings of low self-esteem, low self-worth, and not accepting myself. And so I tried to do whatever I could to feel accepted by others so that I could accept myself. But through my own journey, through yoga and like studying spirituality and all these things, I do believe that everything is a mirror and that our soul has a certain curriculum in this lifetime and we're meant to go through certain experiences to learn certain things. And for me it was how to love and accept myself. And kind of what Aisha was saying, there's this quote, it's one of my favorite quotes. Your perception of me is a reflection of you. And my reaction to you is an awareness of me. And like she was saying if someone else either criticizes me or loves me or thinks I'm amazing. It's actually, it has very little to do with me. And it, it says more about who they are and what their value systems are. And it says more about them than it does to me. So what I try to practice is it's equanimity, it's a it state of neutrality no matter what highs or lows you're going through. Like no matter the praises or the criticisms, you know who you are. And there's this anchored sense of self. And so you're keeping your ego in check essentially.
ShailaI agree. For me, I think it's about the triggers. We realize when we're triggered and we're annoyed, it's not about somebody else that annoyed us or did something. It's about our reflection, right? Our reflection towards that.
AishaI think for me, that's been one of the biggest tools to learn is when I am triggered. Now I can pause and be like, wait a minute, why am I triggered? What am I seeing about myself here that maybe I need to pay more attention to? And I think before I wasn't thinking like that. So now it's like an opportunity rather than, oh man, I feel bad again.
FarahPeople still trigger me and me too. Me too.
ShailaIt's really funny because if I am home and Anis comes home and I am not having a good day, it's, everything is his fault, right? Mm-hmm. And at that moment, he knows that something has triggered me. He'll listen through it all and let me just let it vent it out. But then he'll be like, what really happened? Who said something? Something to you? Are you okay? It's so funny that he's caught on and he'll say that because he knows it's not about him. He knows that this is not a normal, yeah.
AishaI have to say, Shaila, I have to brag about you for a second. I think you were really good with that as well. I know sometimes I'm irritated or whatever, and there's an instance specifically that I'm talking about, and you called me the next day and you're like, what's wrong? I know there's something wrong. Like, what happened? And I was like, I don't know what happened. I was just so upset and I feel like going back to the point about friendships and friends that think, similarly. I think it's such a blessing because it doesn't have to be a romantic partner, it can be a friend, it can be a parent, whoever. But even sometimes someone just asking, okay, I know this isn't you talking who? Where is this coming from? It can be such an eyeopening experience. If you let it be.
ShailaAgreed. It's about the awareness. That's true. Shaila, you do do that. Thanks.
MyraAnd it's important to have clear or clean mirrors in our lives, not people who just reflect back to the good. Or even the people who may be reflecting back the bad, like people who tend to criticize or nitpick, like we, we need to have mirrors that are, clear, like they reflect the good and maybe the things that you could be working on lovingly of course. But, we don't want to be in an echo chamber where everyone around us always agrees with everything.
ShailaAgreed. So as we discuss self worth, what does money beyond numbers mean to you guys? Does that spiritually mean anything when it comes to financial empowerment?
AishaFor me, it means freedom. Just having the freedom to live the life that you want, whether that means for me, like being able to travel or being able to do the hobbies that matter, rather than just being chained to a desk. I'm a very practical person. I'm an accountant, so I feel like there has to be balanced, but it can't just be about the bottom line numbers. There has to be some opportunity for you to do what makes you feel good. In your own life, aside from work, aside from your career, what makes you, you, and then do you have the time and the freedom to be able to do that.
MyraI see things in terms of energy and I see currency as energy to money. I see it as something that flows in and out like a river, like the currents. And so I think for me, the way I try to think about it is having an abundance mindset rather than a scarcity mindset. And so when I give of myself freely and I flow my gifts into the world, I feel like whatever I need comes back to me. I'm taken care of by the universe. And sometimes that's not money, right? I am a yoga teacher. I don't make a lot. So for me, my mind has always thought differently. I feel like I have a lot to offer and I also feel like thank gosh, I'm taken care of when it comes to finances because of my husband and I don't have a lot of thoughts about money. I try to be mindful overall and I just know that I'm gonna be taken care of. Like it flows in, it flows out. So I try not to worry too much. I try to live in that surrender state.
FarahYeah, so I think it's a little bit of both of what you guys said. Freedom. it gives me freedom to do what I wanna do. And I also do think it is energy coming in, but I never have really worried about money. I'm so thankful to say that.
Shailayep. Gratitude
AishaAnd I don't know if this is relevant, but I also to mirror what Farah and Myra said, I'm very, very blessed and grateful. Haven't really thought much about money, and I think it's because of the way I was raised. It wasn't really a topic of too much discussion in my household, and that kind of carried through to me. But I know in the South Asian community, especially here in Houston, children of immigrants. I know it has been something that others might have struggled with and going through that healing journey, it makes you see why people are the way they are based on what they might have gone through with money. Mm-hmm. Yep. And so if you disagree with the way someone spends or doesn't spend, or the way their attitude is with money. I think looking at it from their perspective became much easier for me once I started going down this healing journey because it made me realize the impact of our childhood on the way we are as adults. I think at the end of the day, that's the biggest change, was just how important is our childhood to who we become as adults, and at what point do we allow it to be a hindrance or do we allow it to be a lesson that we grow from? And I think the money thing is. It's a very easy lesson to see because you can just talk to someone and ask them how their childhood was with money. And that's a very black and white answer. It's easy to see. So I think especially in our culture, especially in our community. It's something that you can't really talk about healing without talking about money and the relationship that their families, their parents had with money.
ShailaYep. And how they grew up. Yeah. Looking at money. Yeah. From generations. Yep. Generations. Exactly.
MyraI wanted to expand a little more on that abundance mindset versus scarcity mindset piece because I know a lot of people may not be familiar with that term, but it's not just around money, it's about your mentality. In your perspective it could be about anything in life. It's like the way you see things like there's not enough to go around. And so you try to either hoard or be greedy or possessive in certain actions and ways of thinking versus abundance mentality is that there's plenty to go around. So you're not trying to be stingy with it. You're not to trying to protect it, you're generous. You're generous because you know that it's almost like this recognition of oneness. If I take care of others, I will be taken care of, like our wellbeing is connected in some way. So abundance mentality is, I think it's a core essence in spirituality in itself. There's a her hermetic principle as above, so below as within, so without, so again, everything's a mirror. Everything's reflecting back to you, what's already inside of you. So what you see out in the world is a reflection of what's inside of you. So when you think in terms of lack or scarcity or there's not enough, there's something inside of you that's asking to be healed or acknowledged or looked at more closely. And as we do the work of healing, we start to let go of the fear around scarcity.
ShailaAnd it could be carried from generations. Exactly. So fun question, talking about relationship with money. If money were to walk through the door right now, what would you say to it or what kind of relationship do you wanna have?
FarahI'm grateful for you. Thank you for being, thank you for coming and thank you for staying. I love that.
AishaHey, what's up? I think it would just be like, cool. Come in, let's hang out.
MyraYeah. I I would also say thank you and I would just have gratitude. I've heard this saying, I'm full of quotes. I've heard this saying, someone said a relationship should be like a house with open windows and open doors, and we have relationships with everything. So I see our relationship with money the same way like. Invited in, but have open windows, open doors. Don't like force it to stay, don't lock it into your house. And when it's time to go, then you're okay with surrendering and letting go, evolving. It's like that currency. It's coming in, it's going out and. Just be grateful when it's here.
ShailaBeautiful. Thanks for sharing and being so transparent and authentic, about your story here. What would you say to the woman who feels the nudge but is afraid to take that leap?
FarahStay where you are. When you're ready, you'll be ready. I dunno if I'm kidding or not.
AishaI'm gonna say why not? What's the worst that can happen? If you feel the call, go for it. Once the blinders come off, I think they're pretty off. Not to scare anyone, but it's a lot and it can be overwhelming, but in the most beautiful way because the way that you see relationships, the way you see people, like the way you experience life and joy and love, it's like you took the sunglasses off and you can see everything clearly and vividly. And yeah, the scary scenes might be scarier, but you experience everything that life has to offer so much more deeply that it's beautiful.
FarahAnd that's exactly what I was trying to say. I didn't have the words.
MyraI would ask, what are you afraid of? Because maybe it's just not your time and maybe there's no need to rush it. It's all a process. There's no sense of urgency. If you feel like there's like you need to hurry up and do something because you're behind in some way. And when you look back, how do you wish you spent it while you were alive and while you had this time? Don't let your fear hold you back from what brings you joy, from what excites you or brings you to life. If you're afraid of what other people are gonna say, then, people will maybe talk about your for a week or two and move on. But really, do what makes you happy. And if you need a little more time, be gentle with yourself and maybe just reflect on what's truly holding you back what you're afraid of.
AishaAnd another thing is I think sometimes we tend to get comfortable and we don't wanna leave our comfort zone. It's like being in high school and you know exactly what to expect. You know what you're doing and you wanna go to college, but you're kind of scared because you know it's unknown, it's scary. Things are gonna get harder. But once you get to college, you're like, oh my God, this is amazing. So it's kind of like that. When you're ready, you'll be ready. But at the same time, like the high school college analogy, it's not all parties. It might get harder, but it's definitely, definitely worth it.
MyraAnd what's meant for you is gonna come to you, whether it's now or later. If it's meant for you, it's gonna happen. So sometimes being in the surrender and the flow is okay because universe will move you even if you dig your heels in. And refuse to move yourself. Eventually, it's going to stir things up and it's gonna move you when it's time.
FarahI will say going through this journey my nervous system has calmed down a lot. I'm not as stressed, I don't get triggered as much, and my anxiety become a lot, a lot, a lot better, just I think, and due to this journey and meditation.
ShailaYeah. Yeah. That's awesome. I'd say it's like watching a movie and having all different mixed emotions. It's pushing yourself to be like, okay, I'm ready to deal with this. Farah and I recently met this lady, I think she is just very spiritually elevated. She has this website called The Space Between Us. She said it really well, that resonated with me. She said take the leap. And then she talked about herself and said, when something doesn't feel right, she herself feels it in her body. There's this emotion, or this gut or your heart or your nervous system just tightens up. Right. And that's when you have the opportunity to explore, that's the awareness of exploring why you feel that way. Because that's not a normal state. So either you can ignore it and let it just tighten up. Or you can understand and feel it and face it. And deal with it. Then you understand, okay, I spoke to this person, or I went to this place and I felt this, or somebody said this to me, but why did that trigger me?
MyraYeah. I think that, like for me personally starting my yoga journey really helped me become more aware of those body signals. Your intuition, your gut feelings, right? Like the knot in your belly or the lump in your throat, or the tightness in your chest. Like your body's constantly trying to communicate with you. And we've been trained to override and not really listen to those signals because everyone else out outside of us is trying to tell us what to do or how to think or how to act. And we override our wisdom. Mm-hmm. And I think yoga really helped me return back to my body's wisdom, my intuition. And so that dissonance that Shaila was describing, like when you know something's off, like you really need to be attuned with yourself to be able to pick up on that. And we want to be in harmony again. We want to be in homeostasis where there's a feeling of okayness or a peace or you feel it in your body to recognize that no matter where you are, who you're with, what you're doing, you have to pick up on those cues to know what's good for you or what's maybe not ideal for you.
ShailaSo truth or one advice that you wish you knew five, 10 years ago when you started your healing journey or this journey of awareness?
MyraI would say no because I do believe in divine timing. So I feel like 10, five years ago I was exactly where I was supposed to be. And so for me it's about be being, just be in the present moment instead of wishing you were somewhere else in the future or in the past. We worry so much about what could happen or we live in regret or resentment or it's sometimes hard to forgive. And all of these things takes take us away from the present moment. And I think that's what life is about, really being in the present moment.
FarahMine would be when we were growing up, we used to pray a lot, and I learned that we shouldn't pray with any ego. cause I think that's what I was doing and you just pray for the highest good and whatever's meant to be is gonna be.
AishaFor me, I mentioned, detached. I think I was always very afraid of having strong emotions about anything. And the past couple years I've learned that emotions come and go. They can be extreme, they can be subtle, and I wish I knew how and back then, especially is, it's okay. It's okay to feel what you feel and just go with the flow. And I think I would just tense up and be like, oh my God, I can't be sad. Oh my God, I can't be too happy. But I think going with the flow, like Myra said, being in the present moment, that's change is the only constant. And I think the more you accept that, the easier it is to be in the present moment and really experience the moment for what it is.
FarahSo, what I was saying is when you pray, don't get attached to the outcome. You're praying for the highest good.
Shailaperfect. All right, let's start with our soul sparks. What keeps you grounded?
MyraSo, I recently wrote down a list of grounding practices for the moments that I'm not grounded, that I can easily refer back to. So being out in nature, going for a walk, bare feet in the grass, music, uplifting music, exercising, doing yoga or meditation or mindfulness practice or working out, just moving energy. So, to ground myself, I know I need to come back to myself, so I need to move some energy to come back to my true nature.
FarahMine would be meditation and taking some time to myself.
AishaI don't have anything because I'm so not grounded. I'm so in my head, but I've been taking notes about everything Myra and Farah said, so I'm gonna be doing those things.
ShailaA sign you recently received?
MyraDo tarot count cards count? Sure. So speaking of woowoo, I'm a little out there. I'm really into astrology and tarot and esoteric practices and I have this weird, uncanny ability to have very accurate readings or do accurate tarot readings for people in case anyone's interested. I just love doing it because every time I feel like I get goosebumps from how accurate it is. And I had a session, so I do intuitive sessions also. I have a couple of people. I use Danielle Garcia and Stephanie Yonan. And last week I did a session with Danielle and she said that I was really picking up too much energy from the collective. 'cause the world's kind of gone up in flames lately and she said you're an empath. You're very sensitive and you're just like, you're holding onto that density and you need to release it. You need to do something to release the heavy energy that you're holding 'cause right now your job is to carry your high frequency and that's how you're gonna be helping others around you is just to remain in that high frequency state. And after my session with her, I got off the phone. I immediately got my tarot. My, actually it was my Oracle deck. I have a Roomi Oracle deck. And the card that I drew almost verbatim said what Danielle had said to me. And I was like, okay. Noted. And I knew it. I felt it and it felt like it was the truth. So I think that was loud and clear sign for me. Good.
AishaOkay. I don't know if this is a sign, but y'all know I had to bring this up. So because I'm a conspiracy theorist, I've been going down this like rabbit hole with everything that's been happening, and I feel like it's a sign. If you really, truly believe something in your gut, as crazy as it sounds and I think a lot of the stuff that's been coming out in the world. Always had, like, when I read about it maybe like 10 years ago, I'm like that doesn't sound too crazy. And now as I'm reading about it, I'm like, I knew it. So I don't know if that's a sign, but I'll take it as one.
ShailaSomething you fully trust now?
MyraMyself,
AishaDivine timing.
ShailaFeeling or emotion or truth that you can share that you have healed from your leap on being on this journey?
MyraI would say acceptance. Acceptance for myself, acceptance for others. Kind of like what Aisha was saying, like everyone is on their own journey and if they're projecting towards you, like it could be you're talking about politics and there's a heated argument or debate or disagreement. And before I would try to use all kinds of strategies like logic and proof and facts to convince people. And now honestly, I don't care. Like they are where they're meant to be. I'm where I'm meant to be. It's up to me whether I want to associate with this person or, have them in my life. And that's the only thing we can control. And so to control the controllables, it goes down to that. And acceptance.
AishaFlow.
FarahI just feel less stress and my nervous system is way more calm.
ShailaWhat brings you back to yourself when you feel disconnected?
FarahMy usual answer. Meditation. Meditation. Oh. And playing that keeps me grounded.
MyraAll the things that I said that keep me grounded.
AishaFor me, spending time with my friends because sometimes, or my loved ones, because sometimes they see the best in you when you can't see it in yourself and they remind you of what you bring to the table. And for me, sometimes I need that.
MyraYeah, that's a good one. I think community is really important and there's a lot of we have social media where there's this illusion of connection. But people are more disconnected than ever. And so I think it's really important to have community around us.
ShailaOne thing you no longer tolerate?
AishaWhere should I start? No, I'm kidding. I think for me it would be victim mentality when it comes to myself and when others do it. I can have compassion for them. But from afar, I think I've become more energetically sensitive since starting this journey. And now I just can't be around that. It just pushes me away. And again, with compassion, but I just don't wanna be around that energy. You set your boundary.
MyraYeah, just I would say disrespect for me. If someone tries to make me feel shame or blame me or criticize me to try to control my actions or make me feel like I have to do something or I shouldn't do something, or I'm wrong for thinking or doing something. It's like a huge red flag. If someone's trying to control me in any way, my actions, my thoughts, my behaviors, I will pull away.
FarahI agree with Myra on that one. Disrespect for sure.
ShailaOne bold thought you want to leave listeners with today.
FarahTake the leap
MyraJust be, I think we stress way too much and we try to control things way too much again, going into worry, anxiety, fear, all of these things. So just be with yourself, really learn who you are. In yoga, it's called self-study, and that's one of the principles in yoga philosophy. So when you are with yourself, whether it's meditation or solitude or gardening or painting, or whatever you do by yourself, and spend time with yourself, I think that's one of the biggest things we can do.
AishaI'm just gonna say smile, laugh, and enjoy life.
ShailaIt's joy for me because sometimes we take things too seriously. Yes. And we forget to have fun and look for joy in our life. In this healing journey especially, I'd say sometimes you get so focused on it that you forget to have fun. Just find the joy, have fun, everything's gonna be okay. You will be. Okay. So thank you so much ladies, for joining me today. This was amazing. Thank you. Absolutely. Thank you for having us. I hope you got something out of it for yourself. Looking forward to it. Thank you so much. Thank you, Shaila. Today's conversation is a reminder. Healing is not about becoming someone new. It is about remembering who you were before the world told you who to be. Once awareness begins, life starts to look different. You begin to see the mirrors, the signs, the invitations to grow. And when you surround yourself with people who are willing to look inward, something powerful happens. You realize you're not alone on the path. And the greatest gift on this journey is simply having people who see you. If this conversation sparked something in you, share it with someone who needs it. And remember, your leap doesn't have to be perfect. It has to be yours. Your story is the light someone else is waiting for. Until next time, keep leaping. Keep believing in your magic.
